Ethical guidelines for Sámi tourism

The Sámi Parliament in Finland adopted Principles for Responsible and Ethically Sustainable Sámi Tourism in 2018. The purpose of these ethical guidelines is to enhance the provision of tourism services that provide accurate information about the Sámi culture and do not exploit the Sàmi culture. The ethical guidelines also help to safeguard the Sámi population and traditions outside the tourism industry, so that travelers don´t cause harm to the indigenous communities they visit.

In our tourism services, we follow these ethical guidelines and provide accurate information about the local culture and local history. We highly recommend all guests traveling to Northernmost Lapland to read carefully through the guidance from the Sámi parliament here.
