Arctic Ocean tours: Visit North Varanger from Utsjoki

8 hours

Very easy

Utsjoki is located right by the Norwegian border and only a stone´s throw away from the Arctic Sea. Join us on a guided private or small group tour to Varanger Fjord!

Utsjoki is only one hour drive from the Varanger Fjord. Varanger  Fjord is loaded with intriguing history of the Sámi, Norwegians and  Kvens, a rich wildlife of arctic seabirds and fauna of the Arctic  Ocean. Varanger Fjord is Sámi homelands with still active reindeer herding and fishing livelihoods.

On this exclusive, full day tour to North Varanger, we can pick you up from Utsjoki or Nuorgam villages. We drive to the coast, and visit culturally and historically important sites on our way. During snow-free season, we can spend some time exploring the ancient living site of Mortensnes. The old Nesseby church can be visited year-round. We drive on the coast all the way to Vadso, to visit the interactive exhibition about history and the Kven people in the region. Our last stop is Vestre Jakobselv, where we will enjoy a local lunch and  learn more about the history and culture of the area. We can walk in the harbor and let our eyes rest, watching the fjord. We will drive you back to your accommodation in Utsjoki or Nuorgam villages in the end of the day. We can stop in a Norwegian or Finnish grocery store on the way back.

We offer different kinds of day tours to the Arctic Sea from Utsjoki. This cultural and landscape tour to North Varanger is available year-round. You can also see our other tours to the coast with more limited availability: Sandfjorden protected landscape area near Berlevåg (full day tour available from July to September), Bugoynes King Crab fishing (available from June to September) and Whales, birds and wildlife by boat in North Varanger (available from late March to end of June).
