Why travel to Utsjoki in summer season?
Summer and Autumn time in Utsjoki, Northernmost Finnish Lapland, is all about the blooming forests, open fell landscapes and endless hiking possibilities, clear water in hundreds of rivers and lakes, with world´s cleanest air with comfortable temperature. Being located close to the North Pole, the sun does not set at all from late May to late July. In August and September, the nature starts to prepare for the coming winter: Colors turn into Autumn Foliage (ruska) with spectacular red, purple and yellow.
Easy nature walk (2-3 hours)
Utsjoki is a unique destination with the arctic highlands and river valleys, and gorgeous colors of the silent nature. This program is suitable for small children as well, and we can tailor this tour also accessible for baby stroller and wheel chair.
Scenic hike to the tundra
Paistunturi and Kaldoaivi Wilderness areas in Utsjoki are the largest wilderness areas in Finland. They are protected nature reserves, with almost no human-built roads or structures, but here the indigenous Sàmi people still actively practice their traditional livelihoods of reindeer herding, hunting and fishing.
An experienced local guide is a must-have when exploring outside marked trails, to take care of your safety and to give a deeper understanding of the local culture, geology and nature.
Tailored nature tours
Send us email to request for a tailored nature activites! We do our best to serve different needs, from multiday wilderness explorations to workplace team days or accessible nature trips. You can also request for private photography tour to wilderness (for example for wedding photos) or for us to take you to see some specific species in Arctic wilderness.
Rental gear
Our company mainly offers guided tours and activities, but we also offer some outdoor gear for rental use (when we are ot using them on our guided programs). You can request these via email at arctic@travelutsjoki.com. Prices vary between 5 - 50 €/day.
We have tents for 3-4 people, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, rain clothing, fishing gear, backpacks, camping stoves, Garmin GPS, SUP boards, canoes, open water swimming gear, hiking poles, life jackets, bikes and warm clothing.
