Travel in a sled pulled by guide´s snowmobile and see the stunning nature and geological formations in this 3 billion years old mountain region, that is today known as Paistunturi wilderness area. After millions of years of erosion and ground movements, the sharp mountains have turned into gentle rolling fells, crossed by deep carved river valleys and canyons. From the highest fell tops, you get a great view over the entire wilderness area, as far as to the fells in Norway.
Why a local guide is a must-have?
Paistunturi wilderness area has almost no infrastructure: only a few marked trails and wilderness cabins, and no people around. This is very different kind of environment from more touristy centers in Lapland, which have big groups of people, moving on human-built and marked trails and tracks in forested areas. Seeing any people in our highland wilderness is unlikely, or if you meet someone, it is probably a local reindeer herder or fisherman working.
On our snowmobiling tours and snow safaris, you can experience this remote Arctic Tundra during the snow-covered season, safely and guided. Even if you don´t have any experience in nature excursions, we can take you safely to the most spectacular landscapes, in the middle of silent, pristine wilderness.
