Arctic Ocean tours: North Varanger birds, whales and wildlife by boat (with transfer from Utsjoki)
Cruise to the Varanger fjord with experienced captains on a rib boat, to see the arctic seabirds and whales migrating to the area in spring time.
We pick you up from Utsjoki or Nuorgam villages or near by them, and drive you to the coast of the Arctic Sea, to Varanger Fjord. We head to the harbor in Vadso or Vardo, depending on the season. You are given a thermal floating suit, goggles, gloves and life vests, and then we sail out with experienced captains to the fjord, to explore the wildlife around. In spring, tens of thousands of arctic birds and several whale species migrate to the Varanger fjord for good nesting and feeding environment. We drive and drift with the boat for 2-3 hours, and depending on the season and weather, we might reach Hornoya bird island. After we return to the harbor, we can spend some free time, exploring the city. We drive you back to your accommodation in Utsjoki/Nuorgam after the day by the fjord. We can stop at Norwegian or Finnish supermarket on the way back.
