Husky sledding by Teno River Valley (15 km)

If you  want a husky experience in the gorgeous arctic scenery without mass  tourism, then this experience is for you.

We will pick you up from your accommodation near Utsjoki or Nuorgam villages, provide some extra winter gear if needed, and take you to a small, private husky farm on the Norwegian side of the River Teno (transfer is about 1 hour).

An experienced local musher will meet you at the farm and teach you the basic things  how to control the speed and steer the dog sled. Then you can drive the dog sled through the silent arctic  scenery with huskies for about 10-15 kilometers (about 1,5-2 hour sledding). The dog teams will be automatically following the guide´s team running in the front. Guests will be on shared sleds, so you can take turns in driving the sled and being a passenger, sitting on the sled.

After the sledding, we stay at the farm for a while, to learn more about the dogs and their training, while enjoying hot drinks and snacks by open fire. We will take you back to your accommodation in Utsjoki/Nuorgam after the sledding.

When trying husky sledding as our guest, there is no need to be an  expert with dogs – anyone can participate. But it is important to  know that the dog sledding is like skiing: you can fall and you can get injured. This is rare,  but it can happen if the driver does not control the speed as  instructed. Listening to the safety instructions in the beginning is very important!!!!

Please notice that husky tours are booked "On request", meaning that after you book via webstore, we will confirm your booking within three days. You can also send us email if you want to book via email or on other dates that are on our booking calendar!

If you are insecure about driving a dog sled or you have children in your group, we recommend to book the shorter, 1-hour husky farm visit, where you can try driving the sled only on flat fields or just visit the dog farm. We do not recommend driving the dog sled for pregnant women or children aged 0-4 yrs.
